Patrick Gallois belongs to this generation of french musicians recognized and applauded internationally as soloist as well as conductor.
As student of Jean Pierre Rampal from the age of 17, at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique, he was first appointed solo flute at the Orchester National of Lille and, at 21, principal flute of the Orchester National de France under the direction of Lorin Maazel.
He worked there for 7 years an recorded with the greatest conductors from Pierre Boulez to Seïji Osawa. During this period, he was taught by Leonard Bernstein and Sergiu Celibidache.
In 1984, he leeft the orchestra to start an soloist international career.
He first recorded for FVC in Japan where he was invited for annual tours of 5 weeks and more. After the recording of Mozart’s concertos which obtained a GOLD CD in Japan (more than 100.000 CD sold in one year), he signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft and recorded 10 CD for this company.
His career taking on a new dimension thanks to the conduct of an orchestra, he signed a contract with the Naxos Records.
He has a very extensive repertoire, both on flute and conduction, with a very pronounced taste for contemporary music. Many works are dedicated to him.
As Artistic Director of « Sinfonia Finlandia » Jyvaskyla for 9 years, he signed more than 40 CD for the label – including 25 as conductor, ranging from 5 CD of the first symphonies of Haydn to the music of Maurizio Kagel or Peteris Vasks, through the symphonies of Charles Gounod.
